FYI, I've got a Stihl blower with a 25 gallon tank that I premix 20 gallons and have 800 vines over 1.25 ac. A normal spray session I use 60 gallons and it takes ~6 hours to mix and spray.

Is DE effective for ants on the ground?

(Food grade) DE does helps somewhat - my experience is, if it gets wet, you need to reapply. Theory is the DE gets into the joints of the ants. Some also combine with coffee grounds... may mess up their 'smell' capabilities. It has all helped me in our chicken coops and around animals (nece the food grade.)

Does everyone water at night? I had always heard to water in the early morning?

I water early morning 4 or 5am.
